Take it or Leave it movie, Barzo and Lee, Chalky

Hi Chrissy,

i hope you are fine these days..
I wanted to ask you about the Take it or Leave it movie. It was a great film with lotsa spririt and atmosphere. It was a real cultural revolution that you seem to have started with the guys at that time. The movie reminded me of The Clashs´Rude Boy film and it was pretty wild and lovely arranged. Can you tell me about the recordings of the movie?.How where the reviews by the press? I also wondered about the “little conversation” that Lee (brilliant boy) and Barso had in the studio discussing D and E minor and who played wrong and Lee rushed away with the sax..do such things happen in the studio and how do you all try get over such little fights? I suppose it is normal when so many genious people work together in one studio.do you want to make another movie in the style of Take it or Leave it someday? I think it is a real art work and shows the depression at that time in England with the unemployment and the Thatcher era and people trying to get out of it by doing ! something creative..can you tell me also what happend with Chalky?
Many greetings and hugs from Cat

Dear Cat
We did the film in about two weeks. It was made in 1981, which wasn’t long after the actual events. Mike was maybe a bit over the top with his “role”. He wasn’t that bad. Thommo often stormed off, he is a prima donna kebab kinda guy. I’m glad you liked it. I’ve always thought it was a really good film, I’m glad we had the chance to make it. Chalky lives in Eastbourne and does very good work with “problem” kids.
thanks CB

he is brilliant in every way………wow i am impressed that the movie was done within two weeks only very admirable and one of the best I have ever watched.I loved Thommo in his role and his way of doing the struts towards a telephone box.. i think he phoned Chas and told him about a gig..my fave scene…
