Dear Chris,
Please tell me you’ve not given permission for Our House to be used on the trailer for The Iron Lady? Surely no amount of money could make it worthwhile having your music promote a film that attempts to garner sympathy for a woman who destroyed lives and destroyed society in this country? A woman the band used to oppose in its lyrics: Blue Skinned Beast, Burning The Boats, Uncle Sam, Rise And Fall, Clerkenwell Polka and Norton Folgate are just a few songs which suggest Madness were genuinely left wing.
I’m finding it hard to put into words just how disgusted I am that Madness might be associated with the evil witch who destroyed my home town and my country.

Dear Paul
She was awful but did nothing much worse to England than what Tony Blair did – is it? They were in for 13 years and after a while they couldn’t keep blaming everything on the mess the Tories created. We did stuff for the miners but I always though Brother A. Scargill was a bit iffy. Do you really think “New” Labour was much different? I’ve seen ’em all: Labour/Conservative/Labour/Coalition [ha ha].I’m with the Green Party these days. the trailer looked good to me, like it will be a pretty good film. Let’s see the film first of all, shall we? As far as I know Maggie’s family are appalled at the way she is represented and if you think about it any film that tell the story accurately – well it won’t be a jolly film will it?

you mean britain chris or are you one of these silly people who think englands an ireland
Hi Chris, thanks for replying. We’ll have to agree to disagree regarding Thatcher’s destruction of Britain. You might feel differently if she had single handedly destroyed your home town in the way she did mine.
I agree with you regarding Scargill. I think Blair ultimately failed despite trying to do right by the country. With the exception of his appalling habit of dragging us into illegal wars, nothing he did to the country even comes close to the evil Thatcher perpetrated.
If it counted for anything (apart from in the European parliament and you being lucky to have a Green council) I would probably prefer Green too.
My comments about the film are based on reviews of it, which suggest it sets out to make the viewer sympathise with and support Thatcher. It is highly unlikely I will ever see it. I’m waiting for the sequel with the happy ending.
