Hiah Georgeous Mad Things..
Long time ago in the midst of a very certain kind of Londinium madness in SE1 there were loads of homeless people who lived down the bullring/waterloo which was cardboard city (aka waterloonia) ~ I was one of the lucky winners who found myself down there. Many of our friends from down there have passed on now, but most of the survivors of the long standing close knit family from those chaoticly poetic days are still close friends I’d guess 50 of 200 of the closer knit family..
I’m going to attempt put a book of photos and stories from down there, a collaboration amongst us I’m merely collecting/editing/looking for publishers etc etc,
Well, every time I listen to Norton Folgate my mind races with both nostalgia and curiosity… Does Suggs, the master of the knowledge, know any thing about the history of the Bullring? I thought it might be likely.. & a good place to ask..
Sadly the people I knew from long ago who were all lovely crazy old codgers, have since passed on & those of us left haven’t got a clue where to start from to get history of it before our own times down there. We’re all of course every one of us Madness fans, stands to reason really.. (who wouldn’t be?) ~ (especially as every song was written for us!) ~ It’s a long shot. Or is it? Anyway – if Suggs knows owt then please let me know, point me in any direction. Cheers!
All my gushing thanks for your amazing music and lyrics…

Dear Saz
Very interesting. I have sent this on to Suggs but he is very busy. I think I went through there years ago with my Dad. OK it was about 15 years ago maybe more. It was like “Escape From New York”, the sun was going down and out came the freaks…
I found this on wikipedia

Yes it’s all coming back to me now. Good luck with your project. I might have a few contacts that could help you. Stay in touch.
