Mr. Foreman,
Thanks for your insight on the ‘lighting’ question I had in March. I know Corbijn took the image – he’s a good photographer/director and was pleased when I first read his name in the credits on the back of my vinyl album that the band had gotten a great, higher-profile photographer for the album shot. Classmates of mine have agreed that it’s layered shots as well.
I know you’re playing at Coachella this month (probably already played by the time you locate and read this) and a friend of mine from high school is travelling down there to the festival (but not to see you). Wish I realized you’d be there sooner, I may even have bought a ticket (though I’m in Canada and I’m using my money to go to Calgary NOT to see the girl that moved there [your 1000 response was me talking about a girlfriend of mine moving to that city in June 2009 who I later had several relationships with]) I have other friends there in case you’re wondering about my logic in going there.
I wanted to finally tell you about my music pursuits. I put them all together and came up with about eighteen songs that I’ve written over the past four years, all lyrics. They all concern feelings and all that stuff, and a large number of them are about the same darn girl. I have enough for an entire album (which I’d name ‘Eccentric Feelings’ or something) and music ideas for some of the songs. I’ve posted videos to you before of my keyboard-generated music samples and you’ve suggested I get like-minded people together, a singer.
No luck still…not many people my age interested in ska/reggae/Madness/English Beat/The Police style music. Instead I created a video of my hammering out small samples of music I intend on putting to each song – when I very eventually have other people to put it down with.
I know you’re busy so feel free to watch this at your leisure.
I’ve got a basement full of drums, a bass guitar, keyboard, acoustic guitar and even an old recorder and harmonica. Just need the extremely rare thing – like-minded people.
I should say that the very first piano is based on your song ‘Disappear.’ I’m still writing lyrics…and think you might be interested in this thing I did in my free time as well…
Okay, done “showing off.” I’ll let you be…
Justin
Dear Justin
You could try recording them on either some sort of tape machine or digital multi track, just to see how they come out. Depends on your finances/time. I liked the lyrics thing you did in your spare time, it’s quite mind boggling..
all the best, CB
