James
Dear “James”
I did reply to this personally but the email address you gave [yesyesyes@hotmail.com] was [surprise, surprise!] fake. First of all, Bedders is a man I have the utmost respect for. The Olympics closing ceremony were arranged by someone he knows [David Arnold] so Bedders knew all about it before us and of course we got him to do it. David Arnold wanted him to do it. Then the Jubilee offer came along, so we asked him to do that too. It seemed fitting to have the 7 original members of Madness together for those two great events. Since then we also played a charity gig [this was not in the public eye] with Bedders playing. He has recently spent some time recording two songs with the band for the special edition of the new album. He also come to France with the band and yes, he played at the BBC. There is one thing in common with all these events: he didn’t get paid for any of them. He is back mainly because he enjoys playing with us and I hope this will continue for a long time to come. So your assumptions are totally wrong.
yours, Chrissy Boy
Agree with you Chris. Well said. Still wondering why he was out for so long. Personal issues i think i heard
You rule Chrissy!!! And no one that says that kind of things about my Bedders could be a good person. He’s an incredible man and helped me when I came to him for advice.
You all rule, guys!
dearie me, just seen this. What a pie.
Unbelievable… some people like to run their mouths before knowing the facts.
Well said Chrissy Boy… You bloody tell him! haha
Met Bushers at Newcastle xmas gig and he completely understood the situation with Bedders. He said it was a dream come true to play with Madness and an honour, but could never step into Bedders’ shoes. A top bloke.
An unwarranted tirade from James. I was chuffed to see all 7 guys performing at these events (does it mean Lee is a **** coz in James’ eyes coz he missed BBC?). Bedders seems a really nice guy, he’s responded to a couple of questions I have asked him on twitter, the rest of the guys seem comfortable with situation so the fans should be too!
Well said CB
Well done Chris on your dignified answer! I dont think i would of been so forgiving to a complete knob who obviously knows nothing about anything! How dare he use that word to insult an original band member, who gives up his time for free, and more importantly still has a great love for a great band, and his very good friends! You guys are a great british institution, and make more people happy than i think you know.Take care, and carry on doing all the great things you all do.x
WEll said Chris, you put that idiot in his place, all the genuine MADNESS fans know Bedders is taking time out,as a fan of 33 years i was very proud to see the seven of you perform on the roof of Buckingham Palace, also your performance at the Olympics,MADNESS are national treasures & much loved it was great to see Bedders back in the group where he belongs all us MADNESS fans love seeing you all play.I remember going to a gig in Glasgow SECC in 2006 SUGGS introduced you when you came back after a short break the crowd went wild seeing you all again on stage.MADNESS are 7 always will be….
what a great pleasure to see bedders ( mark bedford ) back with the band top man top bloke
Well Chris, That says it all, The answer you have gave that idiot just proves once again the true gentlemen you all are,The working mans band indeed,As much as we all appreciated Bushers involvement with the band over the past number of years, its only fitting that Mark should return whenever the time allows, and why shouldn’t he being one of the original founder members. Long live Madness.
personally i dont think Bedders appearances even if they are only short term or long term need to be justified.
Full credit to CB for the response.
Well said Mr Foreman. It was a delight to see Bedders up there with you guys completing the Magnificent 7. I think that after all these years it’s amazing that the original 7 can still get up there and show the world how special the relationship they share with each other actually is to this day. As for Bushers, as has already been said, he doesn’t detract in any way from the band when he’s there taking Mark’s place in the line up. They both have so much to offer us music lovers who are fortuneate that our favourite band is still knocking out so much fantastic music, and treating us to some amazing gigs, in the 21st Century. Keep it up!!!!
Well done Chris…more restraint than me.
Bedders is part of Madness.
Bushers is part of Madness.
Great respect to both for all they do to make great music.
I personally would not havevgiven this troll a reply.
Best wishes to you and ALL the chaps.
Jim
Absolutely agree with the above posts. It is always a pleasure to see Mark on stage with you all. It’s immediately obvious that he retains his skills on the bass and he dovetails so well with Woody and yourself. Further than that it is also obvious that he still enjoys it. Nothing at all against Bushers CB; but it feels “complete” to this fan at least when you guys are all together on stage with Bedders at the helm. Just ignore this joker, he doesn’t speak for the true fans.
What a thing to call anyone, particularly on a fan’s section of the website. It’s already been stated on these pages that Bedders wants to concentrate on his printing business. I’m presuming that as an original member, he likes doing a few gigs now and again. what’s wrong with that when you’ve been part of it for 30 years or so. I’m sure Bushers knows the score.
Bedders is a diamond as all members of Madness are
Stunned by the initial post. My own personal view is it was great to see him playing with the band again, even if it is fleeting/temporary.
And, absolutely great to hear How Can I Tell You and My Girl 2 at the gig on Friday.
Well said Chrissy Boy. Like everyone I would love to see Bedders back on stage full time with you guys, but he’s got other stuff to do. It was nice to see him with a smile on his face for the BBC gig, something that was missing on some of the last shows he did before Bushers came in. See you at Newcastle.
It’s a sad day when the trolls have got their teeth into Madness. I respect your restraint shown in your clear, concise reply, Chris. Had somebody talked about one of my close friends of over 30 years, I regret I wouldn’t have been able to come across in so dignified a manner. For the record, I have met, chatted with and received correspondence with Bedders several times during my love affair with all things Madness. He’s an absolute gentleman and very cool, to boot. Anyone says different is a knob.
Are you a true fan of Madness???
Oh dear oh dear James…A few points.
Firstly, how can you accuse Bedders of “not want to put the work in”? He was a full time member for the best part of 30 years, you tit.
Secondly, what sort of response did you expect from CB? These guys are mates. If you email a band member slagging off his friend do you seriously think he’s going to say “Yeah, Bedders is a c**t. You are right. Here, have guest list to our next show”?
Thirdly, if you want to be taken seriously learn some basic spelling and grammar. Communication is a skill you must acquire, it will help you through your life. It is essential.
I’m impressed CB managed to restrain himself in replying to this, i’m sure there are things he would like to have said but this is a family website 🙂
Well said Chris, some people just can’t help but open their mouths and let the crap fall out. Always a pleasure to see Bedders on stage alongside you all.
Well said CB
i would not have dignify that with an response
